The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is a London borough in East London and forms part of Outer London. The borough was formed in 1965 by the London Government Act 1963 as the London Borough of Barking. The constituent parts were the greater part of the Municipal Borough of Barking and the entire Municipal Borough of Dagenham, the former area of which was transferred to Greater London from Essex. At the time of the amalgamation the combined population of Barking and Dagenham was around 180,000, the northern tip of Dagenham having been incorporated into Redbridge and a small area of Barking in Newham. The borough was renamed Barking and Dagenham in 1980.

High Barnet or Chipping Barnet is a place in the London Borough of Barnet in North London, England. It is a suburban development built around a 12th century settlement and is located 10 miles (16.1 km) north north-west of Charing Cross. The tower of Barnet parish church - St John the Baptist - at the top of Barnet Hill, claims to be the highest point between itself and the Ural Mountains 2,000 miles to the east. However, the same has been said of numerous other points. Barnet Hill is a major hill on the historic Great North Road, although the modern Great North Road runs along Barnet Bypass.

Bexley is an area of Southeast London in the London Borough of Bexley, London, England. It is located on the banks of the River Cray south of the Roman Road Watling Street. There are two parts to the town - Old Bexley, still with the appearance of a village (and often referred to locally as "Bexley Village"), and more recent suburban sprawl that blends into the surroundings (which include Albany Park, Lamorbey, Bladindon, Blendon, and Bexleyheath). It is the suburban area that is now the main town centre of the Borough, rather than Old Bexley. Bexley's old Heath between Welling and Crayford now contains the Council's main administrative offices and council chamber as well as suburban housing.

Bracknell is a town in the Bracknell Forest borough of the English county of Berkshire. It lies 18 km (11 miles) to the south-east of Reading, 16 km (10 miles) southwest of Windsor and 53 km (33 miles) west of London.
The town is surrounded, on the east and south, by the vast expanse of Swinley Woods and Crowthorne Woods. The town has absorbed parts of many local outlying areas including Warfield, Winkfield and Binfield.

London Borough of Brent is an urban district of London and it is located in the northwest of the city. During the establishment of Greater London in the year 1965 it was formed from the districts Wembley and Willesden of the county Middlesex. The borough was named after the river Brent. The Wembley Stadium as well as the Neasden Temple (BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir) the largest Hindu temple outside of India are located in Brent. The area has excellent transport links into the centre of London, which is approximately 15 minutes away by public transport. There are frequent bus services including a night bus from the city. Brent has all the shopping amenities that you need locally. There are 24 hour supermarkets, a post office, mainstream banks and plenty of local shops. Community facilities are also present in the form of a main library, fitness centre with pool, cinema and Internet cafes. It is regarded as a safe area with a number of attractive parks and tree lined roads.

Brighton is a city at the coast of the English Channel in the county East Sussex and forms together with the directly bordering Hove the Unitary Authority Brighton and Hove. Brighton is the largest and most well-known seaside resort in England. The independent municipalities Brighton, Hove and Portslade grown together however spatially united 1997 to Brighton & Hove, which received the status of a town centre in the year 2001. Contrary to the old town centres so-called Millennium town centres do not have such as Brighton & Hove however all royal town centre privileges, like for example a bishop seat. Brighton has about 134,000 inhabitants.

Bromley is an urban centre in the London Borough of Bromley and is listed as a metropolitan centre in the London Plan. It is situated 9.3 miles (15.0 km) south east of Charing Cross. Historically within the county of Kent, the origin of the town's name is from Old English, or "broom hill", as supported by records of the name as Bramelewe in 1272.

The London Borough of Camden is a borough of London, England, which forms part of Inner London. The southern reaches of Camden form part of Central London. The borough is home to some of London's most desirable areas such as Hampstead, Dartmouth Park, the Holly Lodge Estate and Camden Town, as well as areas with higher unemployment and very high crime levels (especially drug crime) around Gospel Oak and, to a lesser extent, Somers Town.

The City of London is a geographically small city within Greater London, England. It is the historic core of London around which, along with Westminster, the modern conurbation grew. The City's boundaries have remained almost constant since the Middle Ages, and hence it is now only a tiny part of the much larger London metropolis. It is often referred to as just the City or as the Square Mile, as it is almost exactly one square mile (2.6 km²) in area.

The City of Westminster is a borough of London with city status. It is located west of the City of London and north of the River Thames, and forms part of Inner London and the bulk of London's central area. The city contains most of London's West End and is the seat of the United Kingdom's government, with the Palace of Westminster, Buckingham Palace, Whitehall, and the Royal Courts of Justice. In 1965 the London borough was created from the former area of the Metropolitan Borough of St Marylebone, the Metropolitan Borough of Paddington and the smaller City of Westminster. It covers a far greater area than the original settlement of Westminster.


London Borough of Croydon is an urban district in the south of London. It is the most densely populated of all urban districts and grew up in the last years to an important business centre. Croydon belonged to 1965 finally until 1889 to the county Surrey, became then a circle-free city and came together with the municipality Coulsdon and Purley Greater London.

Ealing is a town in the London Borough of Ealing. It is a suburban development situated 7.7 miles (12.4 km) west of Charing Cross. It is one of the major metropolitan centres identified in the London Plan and is often referred to as the "Queen of the Suburbs".

The London Borough of Enfield is the most northerly London borough and forms part of Outer London. Enfield used to be a small market town on the edge of the forest about a day's travel north of London. As Greater London has grown, Enfield has become a residential suburb, with fast transport links into central London.

Epsom is a town in the borough of Epsom and Ewell in Surrey, England, to the south of Greater London. The town is located 18 miles (29 km) south-south-west of Charing Cross, and forms part of the suburbia that surrounds London. The town lies on the chalk downland of Epsom Downs.

Greenwich is a district in south-east London, England, on the south bank of the River Thames in the London Borough of Greenwich. It is best known for its maritime history and as giving its name to the Greenwich Meridian (0° longitude) and Greenwich Mean Time. The town became the site of a Royal palace, the Palace of Placentia from the 15th century, and was the birthplace of many in the House of Tudor, including Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. The palace fell into disrepair during the English Civil War and was rebuilt as the Royal Naval Hospital for Sailors by Sir Christopher Wren and his assistant Nicholas Hawksmoor.

The London Borough of Hackney is a London borough in East London, and forms part of inner London. The south western tip of the borough is adjacent to the City and close to the Broadgate development. In this area some office development has taken place within the borough boundary. Also in the south west are Hoxton and Shoreditch which are central to the London arts scene and home to numerous clubs, bars, shops and restaurants, much of which is centred on Hoxton Square.

The London Borough of Haringey is a borough of North London, classified by some definitions as part of Inner London, and by others as part of Outer London. It shares borders with six other boroughs. Clockwise from the north, they are: Enfield, Waltham Forest, Hackney, Islington, Camden, and Barnet. Haringey covers an area of more than 11 square miles (28.5 km²). Some of the more familiar local landmarks include Alexandra Palace, Bruce Castle and Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. The borough is very ethnically diverse. It has extreme contrasts, with areas in the west, such as Highgate, Muswell Hill and Crouch End that are among the most prosperous in the country. In the east of the borough, some wards are classified as being among the most deprived 10% in the country.

Harrow is a town in the London Borough of Harrow, North West London. It is a suburb situated 12.2 miles (16.4 km) west northwest of Charing Cross. It is one of the major metropolitan centres identified in the London Plan. Harrow is widely known for Harrow School, attended by Winston Churchill and Indian Prime Minister Nehru, however Harrow County School also had a tradition of noted staff and pupils, e.g. Sir Paul Nurse, Sir Nigel Sheinwald, Michael Portillo, Clive Anderson and Geoffrey Perkins. Harrow is home to a large University of Westminster campus near Northwick Park Hospital (although both these landmarks actually lie within the London Borough of Brent). Harrow was a municipal borough of Middlesex before its inclusion in Greater London in 1965.

The London Borough of Havering is a London borough in East London, England and forms part of Outer London. The principal town in Havering is Romford and the other main settlements are Hornchurch, Upminster and Rainham. The borough is mainly characterised by suburban development with large areas of protected open space. In contrast, Romford is a major metropolitan retail and night time entertainment centre and to the south the borough extends into the London Riverside redevelopment area of the Thames Gateway. The name Havering is a reference to the Royal Liberty of Havering which occupied the area for several centuries.

Hillingdon is a place in the London Borough of Hillingdon. It is a suburban development situated 14.2 miles (22.8 km) west of Charing Cross. Was an ancient parish, and had within it the cheaply of Uxbridge, which became a separate civil parish in 1866. In 1894, under the Local Government Act 1894, Hillingdon parish was divided into two: with Hillingdon West becoming, with Uxbridge, part of the Uxbridge Urban District, and Hillingdon East becoming part of the Uxbridge Rural District. Uxbridge Rural District was abolished in 1928, with the East parish being added to Uxbridge Urban District. Both East and West parishes were abolished in 1938, and added to Uxbridge parish. The name was revived in 1965, under the London Government Act 1963 as the name of the western-most borough of Greater London.

Hounslow is the principal town in the London Borough of Hounslow. It is a suburban development situated 10.6 miles (17 km) west south-west of Charing Cross and one of the major metropolitan centres identified in the London Plan. Hounslow forms a post town in the TW postcode area.

Islington is an urban district of London. It is appropriate directly north for the town centre OF London and resulted with the establishment of Greater London in the year 1965 from the pool of the districts Islington and Finsbury of the former County OF London.

The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham is a London borough in West London and forms part of London. It was formed in 1965 by merging the Metropolitan Borough of Hammersmith and the Metropolitan Borough of Fulham. It was known as the London Borough of Hammersmith until its name was changed on 1 January 1979 by the borough council. The borough is known internationally for the 1908 Olympics, hosted in White City, and for being home to the main facilities of the BBC at Center. Traversed by the A4 Great West Road and the A40 Westway, many corporations have offices in the borough, and a large development is underway at White City with new transport links and a large shopping mall.

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is a London borough in the west side of central London. It is an urban area and was named in the 2001 census as the most densely populated local authority in the United Kingdom, with a population of 158,919 at 13,244 per square kilometre (the land area is approximately 12 square kilometres). The borough is immediately to the west of the City of Westminster, which is at the heart of modern London, and itself contains a substantial number of city centre facilities such as major museums and universities (in "Albertopolis"), department stores like Harrods, and embassies. It also contains many of the most exclusive residential districts in London.

Kingston upon Thames the Royal Borough is an urban district in the southwest of London. The district carries the additive "Royal Borough" (royal municipality), because it was during the Middle Ages private property of the English kings and not when tenure was assigned. 1965 was combined the districts Malden and Coombe and Surbiton with Kingston; all for three districts Surrey were appropriate before the formation of Greater London in the county. Kingston is considered as that district, which offers the best purchase possibilities outside of the city centre.

Lambeth is a place in the London Borough of Lambeth, although the area is now more commonly known as Waterloo, after the railway station whose viaduct separates the former centre of the village from the River Thames. Lambeth is the site of St Thomas' Hospital, the London Eye, the Royal National Theatre, the Royal Festival Hall, County Hall as well as Waterloo station.

Lewisham is a district in south-east London, England and the principal settlement of the London Borough of Lewisham.

The London Borough of Merton is a London borough in south west London. The borough was formed in 1965 by the merger of the former area of the Municipal Borough of Mitcham, the Municipal Borough of Wimbledon and the Merton and Morden Urban District, all formerly within Surrey. The main commercial centres in Merton are Mitcham, Morden and Wimbledon, of which Wimbledon is the largest. Other smaller centres include Raynes Park, Colliers Wood, South Wimbledon, Wimbledon Park and Pollards Hill. The borough derives its name from the historic parish of Merton which was centred on the area now known as South Wimbledon. In a borough with a broad socio-economic range between generally affluent Wimbledon and less affluent Mitcham, the name was seen as a compromise.

Newbury is a town in the west of the English Countys Berkshire and just like hunger Fords to the district west Berkshire is counted. The next larger city in the County is Reading. Newbury has Vodafone with the incorporated to Thatcham over 50.000 inhabitants and is the head office of the portable radio offer.

The London Borough of Newham is a London borough in East London, within Greater London.It is situated 5 miles (8 km) east of the City of London, and is north of the River Thames. According to 2005 estimates, Newham is the most ethnically diverse district in the country, with no particular ethnic group dominating (39% of the population is White, 33% is Asian, and 22% is Black).

Reading was an important national centre in the medieval period, as the site of an important monastery with strong royal connections, but suffered economic damage during the 17th century from which it took a long time to recover. Today it is again an important commercial centre, with strong links to information technology and insurance. It is also a university town, with two universities and a large student population.

The London Borough of Redbridge is a London borough in north east London, England and forms part of Outer London. The name comes from a bridge over the River Roding which had been demolished in 1921. The bridge was made of red brick, unlike other bridges in the area made of white stone. The name had first been applied to the Redbridge area and Redbridge tube station was opened in 1947. It was earlier known as Hocklee's Bridge.

The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames is a London borough in south west London, England, which forms part of Outer London. It can been seen from a map that the borough is not entirely urbanised. There are some large areas of open space within the borough boundaries. The main suburban developments are Hampton and Teddington in the south, Twickenham, St Margarets and Whitton in the central area west of the River Thames and the Richmond-Kew-Mortlake-Barnes corridor across the loop of the river. It is the only London borough to straddle the Thames with districts on both sides of the river.

Slough is a city and a Unitary Authority in the county Berkshire in the south of England.

Southwark is an urban district of London, which is appropriate directly south for the town centre OF London. The district was formed for 1965 with the establishment of Greater London from the districts Bermondsey, Camberwell and Southwark of the former County OF London. In addition Southwark is the starting point for the pilgrim trip described in Geoffrey Chaucers Canterbury of valley after Canterbury.

Staines is an English medium-sized town with 52.400 inhabitants (conditions: 2001) in the region London and near the airport Heathrow. Staines belongs to the county Surrey and the Borough OF Spelthorne. The city is appropriate for scarcely 30 km west the Londoner of city centre.

The London Borough of Sutton is a London borough in South London, England and forms part of Outer London. It covers an area of 43 km² (16.6 sq mi) and is the 80th largest local authority in England by population. It is one of the southernmost boroughs of London. It is south of the London Borough of Merton, west of the London Borough of Croydon and east of the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames.

Swindon is convenient a city in the county Wiltshire in the southwest of England, between London and Bristol. The city - one at the fastest of the increasing united kingdom - has 155,432 inhabitants (conditions: 2001). Swindon lies in the Borough OF Swindon, which is since 1998 an independent administrative unit (Unitary Authority).

Tower Hamlets is an urban district of London. The name refers to the Weiler (hamlets), which were appropriate east for the town centre OF London near the Tower. These were in former times obligated to place the guards (yeomen) of the Towers.
Tower Hamlets consists since the establishment of Greater London in the year 1965 of the quarters Bethnal Green, Poplar and Stepney of the former County OF London. In this district is the largest part of the former dockland of dock country, inclusive the west India dock and the Canary Wharf. Open brook at the Main and Mödling are partner cities of Tower Hamlets.

Twickenham is part of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and is situated west of London. It is a town steeped in history, with many attractions to visit such as York House Gardens, Marble Hill House and Orleans House Gallery.

The London Borough of Waltham Forest is a London borough in East London, England and forms part of Outer London. It is a mix of built-up residential development and a fifth of the borough is made up of forestland, reservoirs, open space, parks and playing fields. It is located between part of Epping Forest in the east and the River Lee in the west which form two green corridors, passing into London from the surrounding countryside. It is sometimes confused with the adjoining Epping Forest district, which is not in Greater London. Waltham Forest is one of five London boroughs which have been designated host boroughs for the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Wandsworth Town is an exclusive town on the south bank of the River Thames in south-west London. It is at the centre of the London Borough of Wandsworth, made up of Balham, Battersea, Clapham Junction, Earlsfield, Nine Elms, Putney, Roehampton, Southfields, and Tooting. Wandsworth takes its name from the River Wandle, which enters the Thames at Wandsworth. Many people say they live in Wandsworth, but are referring to the borough rather than the town. Wandsworth town is a relatively small, roughly triangular-shaped stretch of land, running down to the Thames.

Weybridge is a town with 19.463 inhabitants (conditions: 2001) in the district Elmbridge of the county Surrey in the southeast of England. From 1933 to 1974 Weybridge was part of the Urban Districts whale clay/tone and Weybridge. The name is derived from the river Wey, which flows into Weybridge into the Thamse; the place developed, because one could cross there relatively comfortably the river.

Wimbledon is a quarter of London. It belonged to the district London Borough OF Merton in Greater London and is appropriate for approximately eleven kilometres southwest the Charing CROSS in the city centre.
